Govt distributes aid under welfare schemes of manipur building and other construction workers welfare board

The Manipur government on Monday extended financial assistance and welfare benefits to eligible labour card holders, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying in relief camps, at a programme held at the City Convention Centre in Palace Compound.

The benefits were distributed under various welfare schemes of the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (MBOCWWB), with special emphasis on educational assistance for children of displaced construction workers.

The programme was organised by the MBOCWWB under the Department of Skills, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship as part of the 25th Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said financial assistance was provided under the “Special Scheme for Financial Assistance for Education of Children Staying at Relief Camps” along with other welfare schemes of the MBOCWWB.

The education-focused assistance is aimed at supporting children of displaced construction workers residing in relief camps, while other welfare measures seek to strengthen social security for labour families.

Minister for Art and Culture Kh. Loken Singh and Rajya Sabha MP A. Sharda Devi attended the programme.

Several MLAs, including Th. Shanti Singh, Kh. Raghumani Singh, Nishikant Sapam, Th. Arunkumar Singh, Kh. Ibomcha Singh, S. Premchandra Singh, Kh. Joykisan Singh and S. Kunjakeswor Singh, were also present.

Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur and MBOCWWB chairperson K. Inaocha Devi were among the senior officials who attended the event.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to provide welfare support to vulnerable labour families and displaced people in Manipur, particularly in areas such as education, social security and living conditions.
