A night of misfortune for India on British soil. Following a defeat in the Unity Cup football, the Indian women’s cricket team was defeated in the second match of the T20 series against England. With a 26-run victory in the match held last night, England has leveled the series.
Batting first, helped by an unbeaten 39 runs from number 6 batter Freya Kemp, England managed to score 168 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Shreyanka took three wickets. India’s bowling was quite promising.
Chasing a target of 169 runs, India was moving ahead on the right track with the help of Smriti Mandhana’s 32, Shafali Verma’s 22, Yastika Bhatia’s 33, and Harmanpreet Kaur’s 28 runs. However, they faced a surprising batting collapse and were eventually halted at 142 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. India lost their final 6 wickets for a mere 39 runs.
