Joint Operation by Manipur Police, CRPF QAT and CoBRA After Imphal East Attack

Manipur police today said that 17 individuals were arrested from a designated camp of Kuki militants who are in ceasefire with the government.
Police said the arrests were made after they were found to be impersonating as registered cadres of Kuki National Army (KNA) and Kuki Liberation Army (KLA). Both the outfits are under suspension of operations (SoO) agreement with the government.
“On 23/10/2026, a joint operation by Manipur Police, QAT CRPF and CoBRA was conducted at Sinai Camp, a designated SoO camp of KNO/KNA and KNO/KLA. During verification, 17 individuals were found impersonating registered SoO cadres (8 KNA and 9 KLA) using false identities. All 17 were arrested,” a statement from Manipur police said.
According to the statement, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) commandos, an elite special operations unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), assisted by other security forces and Manipur police, carried out the special inspection and search operation in the camp located at Saimol village under Saikul police station.
The operation was conducted after three persons from the Meitei community were killed and three others injured during an attack in Khongban Sunulok village of Imphal East on October 19.
Altogether 24 firearms, 38 magazines, a large quantity of ammunition, explosives, wireless communication equipment and other combat gear were seized during the operation.
Police have registered an FIR in this connection under the relevant provisions of the BNS, Arms Act, Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act and Explosive Substances Act.
