Manipur Authorities Coordinate with NIA Following Civilian Killings

Manipur Police and security forces have launched extensive joint operations across violence-affected areas following recent incidents of arson and civilian killings, with investigations underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.

In a statement issued on November 6, the authorities said all cases related to the incidents were being thoroughly investigated. Efforts are also being made to identify the accused, trace witnesses and record their statements as part of the ongoing probe.

Joint teams comprising the Police, CoBRA, CRPF, BSF, Assam Rifles and the Army have intensified cordon-and-search operations (CASO) and intelligence-based operations in affected areas. The objective, according to the statement, is to take legal action against individuals involved in the violence.

The authorities further stated that necessary action was also being pursued in coordination with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), reflecting the seriousness with which the incidents are being treated.

Assuring the public that the situation is under close watch, the authorities said adequate security measures have been put in place to prevent any further escalation of violence.

Police appealed to residents to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Citizens were also urged not to believe or circulate unverified information, rumours or provocative content on social media, warning that such activities could further aggravate the situation.

Calling for collective responsibility, the authorities urged all sections of society to cooperate with the police and security forces in maintaining peace, restoring normalcy and preventing further incidents of violence.
