BJP MLA Radheshyam Urges Joint Action from Biren and Ibobi to End Manipur Violence

In a crucial appeal aimed at bringing stability to the region, Manipur BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam called on former chief ministers N Biren Singh and O Ibobi Singh to join hands with the incumbent government to restore peace across the state. Addressing a public event in Bishnupur district, the Heirok constituency representative and state government spokesperson emphasized that political differences, public criticism, and social media mudslinging would do nothing to resolve the ongoing crisis. He stressed that the overarching desire of the people across Manipur is the immediate return of normalcy, urging political leaders to set aside partisan rhetoric and work collaboratively toward reconciliation. Radheshyam advised both senior political figures—Congress leader Ibobi Singh and BJP leader Biren Singh—to offer constructive suggestions and active support rather than making provocative statements or criticizing the current administration’s actions. Candidly reflecting on the origin of the conflict, the MLA admitted to key security lapses in handling the initial breakout of ethnic violence, openly acknowledging that the state failed to deploy a sufficient force of police personnel in time to prevent the escalation. While acknowledging past missteps, Radheshyam underscored that the present government is working relentlessly to restore order, calling on the public to rally behind its efforts while criticizing former leaders for claiming past perfection while questioning current measures. Ultimately, his appeal highlights an urgent push for bipartisan unity as an essential prerequisite for durable peace in Manipur.
