The Joint Tribes Council Manipur (JTCM) has withdrawn the total emergency shutdown with immediate effect, allowing normal public movement and daily activities to resume in the affected areas.
Despite lifting the shutdown, the organisation announced that its economic blockade will continue until further notice as part of its ongoing agitation.
The continuation of the blockade is expected to affect the transportation of essential commodities, commercial goods and other supplies along the routes under its influence.
JTCM said its key demands remain unresolved and clarified that the decision to end the shutdown should not be seen as a withdrawal of its protest. It maintained that the economic blockade will remain in force until further decisions are taken.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any disruption to law and order. Meanwhile, commuters and transporters have been advised to remain cautious and stay updated on traffic and travel advisories before undertaking journeys through the affected areas.
