Mahindra Targets 110,000 Thar, Thar Roxx Units Amid Festive Demand

Mahindra & Mahindra expects combined sales of its Thar and Thar Roxx SUVs to increase by at least 10% over the next 12 months, targeting around 110,000 units or more compared with approximately 100,000 units sold in the previous year. The automaker has raised production capacity for the two models to about 11,000 units a month, with flexibility to shift production between the Thar and Thar Roxx based on demand. Mahindra has also deliberately built inventory ahead of the festive season, with stock levels currently exceeding 30 days as the company anticipates stronger demand. The company expects a robust festive period, supported by several recent launches and updates across its SUV portfolio, including the XEV 9e, BE 6, Scorpio N, 3XO and the refreshed Thar. The latest three-door Thar, launched at an introductory price of ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom), features an updated platform, revised suspension and damping technology, six airbags, upgraded interiors and additional off-road capabilities, with deliveries scheduled to begin on October 11. Mahindra expects the refreshed Thar to contribute around 60,000 units annually, while maintaining a monthly volume expectation of about 4,500-5,000 units for the model. The company believes its expanded capacity and the ability to switch production between the Thar and Thar Roxx will help meet festive-season demand while limiting waiting periods.
