The State Cabinet, at its meeting on Thursday, approved several welfare and financial measures, including enhanced ex-gratia for Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel, humanitarian assistance to families of 49 missing persons, and increased pensions for retired journalists.
Under the revised rates, the ex-gratia for Army and CAPF personnel will be Rs 10 lakh in case of death, Rs 2 lakh for permanent disability, Rs 1 lakh for grievous injury and Rs 20,000 for simple injury. The expenditure will be borne by the State Government.
The Cabinet approved one-time assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of kin of 49 persons, reported missing since May 3, 2023, involving a total expenditure of Rs 4.90 crore.
It also approved an increase in the monthly pension of retired journalists from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 and family pension from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000.
The Cabinet further approved the constitution of the Fifth Manipur State Finance Commission for 2026–27 to 2030–31 and amendments to the relevant pension rules.
