Manipur has resulted in the arrest of seven terrorists from proscribed groups

According to police on Thursday, security authorities in Manipur detained seven terrorists from many districts, including Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, and Imphal East, who were connected to several banned groups. Two active PLA cadres from Leirongthel Prita in Thoubal, RK Mubisana Meitei (47), and Moirangthem Naresh Singh (28), were among those detained. They were accused of engaging in extortion. They were found to have a 9mm and a.32mm handgun and seven live rounds.

Moirangthem Chinglen Singh (44), a prominent member of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF-Koireng), was taken into custody by authorities in the Bishnupur district from his home in Kangmong Meisnam Maning Leikai. Asem Nanao Singh (31), another UNLF (Koireng) cadre, was apprehended from Lamdong in Kakching. It has been stated that he participated in extortion schemes as well. Waikhom Rajesh Singh, a 32-year-old member of UNLF (Pambei), was arrested in the Minuthong neighborhood of Imphal East for extorting money from cargo agencies in the Imphal Valley.

David Ngamjang, a 25-year-old self-described “Sergeant Major” of the outlawed CKLA/UPLF gang, was apprehended in Saikot village, Churachandpur. They confiscated a 9mm handgun that contained three rounds. Another KCP (Taibanganba) militant who engaged in extortion was also taken into custody from Waikhong in Kakching. Under pertinent legal provisions, the police have stated that investigations are still ongoing and that additional action would be taken.
