Manipur police capture KCP cadre, seize illegal arms

Manipur’s security forces and police have made significant headway in combating militant activities by apprehending several operatives from outlawed groups and seizing substantial weaponry and supplies.

On August 26, a coordinated operation led to the arrest of two militants from the banned outfit KYKL at Wangjing Heirok crossing in Thoubal District. The arrested individuals, Narengbam Gobin Singh (37) and Moirangmayum Romantic alias Prem (27), were found with a cache of illegal items including a 9mm pistol with a magazine, an SMG carbine with a magazine, five live rounds of ammunition, a mobile phone with a SIM card, and a four-wheeler registered under a local resident’s name in Sangaiyumpham.

In another operation, Manipur Police detained Koijam Uperjit Singh, 29, a cadre of the banned KCP (Taibangnganba) outfit, during the night of August 26-27. Arrested from Elangkhanpokpi in Kakching District, Singh is under investigation for his involvement in militant activities.

Further intensifying their crackdown, police conducted a large-scale search operation in Bishnupur District on August 26, following the arrest of four KCP (PWG) militants. The search led to the discovery of a KCP (PWG) hideout in the Kamong area, where authorities seized six vehicles, combat gear, bulletproof vests, helmets, and various other supplies. The operation to locate additional militants is ongoing.
