According to the police’s official morning briefing, on March 25, 2025, they detained three individuals in possession of 5.5 kg of suspected heroin powder. An abandoned Bolero car was later discovered in the same district by the Imphal East district police. Inside the car, the officers discovered 419 soap boxes containing roughly 5 kg of heroin powder. In the Imphal West area, three drug dealers in possession of illicit substances have been taken into custody. During this specific operation, the suspects were found to have 461 soap boxes with around 5.5 kg of heroin powder inside.
880 soap cases carrying roughly 10.5 kg of heroin were found during the raids combined. According to the authorities, the drugs were smuggled out of the state via National Highway 102, which connects Imphal and Dimapur in Nagaland, and were shipped from Myanmar. The highway has been a well-known conduit for local illegal drug trafficking organizations. Following the arrest, Manipur Police brought the accused smugglers before the appropriate court and filed complaints against them under the applicable laws. However, investigators have yet to identify the traffickers who were caught.
