Manipur has been recognized as the Best Performing State among Hilly and North-Eastern States in NITI Aayog’s India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI) 2025, honoring the state’s significant progress in expanding electric vehicle (EV) adoption and developing supportive infrastructure. While Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Chandigarh topped the national open category, Manipur led its regional peer group due to collaborative efforts between its Transport Department, Power Department, Manipur Urban Development Housing Department (MAHUD), and other key stakeholders. A state delegation led by Transport Principal Secretary R.K. Dinesh Singh, alongside Transport Director Kh. Diana Devi and other key officials, formally accepted the award on behalf of the government. State officials emphasized that the achievement reflects ongoing targeted measures to transition toward cleaner transportation, strengthen regional charging networks, foster public participation, and build eco-friendly transit systems—a milestone expected to further catalyze Manipur’s expanding electric mobility ecosystem.
