The Central Investigation Agency NIA has today arrested five suspected extremists while investigating the recent horrific bomb explosion in Thanglobit, Manipur. Amid the state’s recent unrest, the investigation agency has intensified operations to uproot forces involved in diplomatic activities.
Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam informed this while addressing a press conference at the Secretariat in Ministerpukhuri. Regarding the progress of the Thanglobit explosion in Manipur, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam stated, “The NIA has so far taken control of five cadres of the ‘United Kuki National Army’ on suspicion of being involved in this incident.” He also mentioned that as the investigation progresses, the mystery behind the explosion will be revealed. Meanwhile, in Vishnupur’s Thiningeit, due to the recent clash between locals and security forces, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam made an unfounded sensational statement. During this tension, some people had forcibly taken firearms from the security forces, although he also informed that the personnel were later able to recover them.
Currently, over 34,000 security personnel are deployed in Manipur to maintain peace. Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam stated that the government will soon start a recruitment process to fill the positions of 7,000 personnel in the state, giving priority to women. Additionally, he informed in a press conference that the government aims to reopen educational institutions only when the law and order situation improves further.
