Senior politician and former MLA of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency, Nimaichand Luwang joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on May 21. Formerly, he was serving as the spokesperson of the Janata Dal (United).
He was warmly received by the leaders and activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party during a function held at the party headquarters in Manipur. The veteran political leader was welcomed into the party in the presence of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and State BJP president A. Sarda Devi.
Nimaichand Luwang said that five members of his family were also joining the BJP. His decision was not driven by personal interests but by a desire to contribute towards peace and development in Manipur, he stated to the mediapersons.
In his message on the social media platform, the Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh welcomed the former minister Dr Nimaichand Luwang and Gokul Luwang to the BJP. The move reflected growing confidence in the party’s vision of development, governance and progress, the Chief Minister added.
The reception function was also attended by Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam and other party leaders.BJP remains committed to serving the people and working towards the state’s growth and prosperity, the Chief Minister further stated.
