Reckitt, in partnership with Plan India, has launched the transformative Rainbow Classrooms initiative under its Durex The Birds and Bees Talk (TBBT) program. This pioneering effort seeks to create safe and welcoming educational spaces across Northeast India where every student can thrive regardless of gender identity.
At the heart of the initiative are vibrant, rainbow-colored classroom doors, serving as symbols of acceptance and recognition for schools leading the charge in embracing diversity. Supported by the Government of India and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), the initiative introduces a groundbreaking gender diversity course tailored for teachers. This course equips educators with the necessary tools and knowledge to sensitively address and support students navigating issues of gender identity. Gaurav Jain, Executive Vice President of Reckitt – South Asia, expressed the initiative’s profound impact on communities: “The Rainbow Classrooms initiative reflects our commitment to creating nurturing environments where every student feels valued and respected.”
Activities under the initiative will include engaging events like painting competitions and workshops on gender equality across Sikkim, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. Reckitt’s outreach plans encompass Imphal, Gangtok, Itanagar, and Namsai markets, reinforcing their dedication to promoting inclusivity and supporting communities across the region.
