The public willingly turned over a sizable cache of firearms, ammo, and other materials at several locations around the districts of Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Imphal West. The public’s cooperation in fostering peace and security in the area is demonstrated by the 16 various types of guns that were turned over to authorities along with other items. Items that were turned in were delivered to a number of police stations in the Bishnupur district.
Bishnupur Police Station received various items from CDO Unit, including SLR rifles, INSAS rifles, LMG magazines,.303 rifles, smoke shells, detonators, and hand grenade, while Kumbi Police Station received locally made rifles and pistols. PGCI Police Station reported the surrender of a submachine gun carbine and a single-barrel weapon. In Imphal East district, weapons were surrendered at multiple police stations. The CDO Unit at Porompat Police Station collected a 9mm pistol, ammunition, and other items.
At Andro Police Station, a hand grenade, bomb, M16, AK, and.303 rifles were also surrendered. At Porompat Police Station, two pistols, ammunition, stun grenades, and bulletproof jackets were received. Mayang Imphal Police Station in Imphal West district received various weapons and ammunition, including an SBBL gun,.36 HE hand grenade, tear smoke shells, and more. The arms and ammunition were handed over to police stations for further action, highlighting the public’s voluntary participation in supporting peace and stability.
