200 crore online trading scam in Karimganj

Assam has been hit by a series of fraudulent online trading scams that have duped crores of rupees from investors of late. Due to the significant blow to these third-party stockbrokers’ credibility, there is now a lack of trust in this industry. People are now wary about engaging in such illegal activities. In the Karimganj area of Assam, another controversy of this kind has surfaced. It concerns Mohammed Shakir and Ifzal, two individuals. Under the pretense of internet trading, the two have been charged with defrauding the public. In response to this most recent development, the Karimganj police have issued a watch notice for the two individuals.

The police have also carried out raids at their homes, but they have managed to escape and are currently at large. Shakir allegedly robbed investors by pulling off frauds totaling Rs 200 crore, according to reports. He set the trap by attracting investors with alluring offerings and making large return promises. At the Sadar Police Station, Karimganj Police has filed a case under sections 120(B), 420, 409, 406, RW SEC 20(1), 20(2), and 20(3). An inquiry is presently in progress. “In response to a public complaint regarding a fraudulent internet trading scheme, we have released a watchdog alert. Investigations have revealed that a number of other people are involved in the scam as well,” Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Das stated.

The police have promised that anyone responsible for this financial crime would face harsh consequences and that justice will be delivered as soon as possible. In the meantime, authorities in Assam’s Baksa district announced on Tuesday that a lady has been charged with defrauding at least 8,000 villagers out of Rs 100 crore in a massive online trade scheme. She has, however, been evading capture for a few days, and the locals have reported her to the police. Some of the villagers even gave Brahma their entire life savings, they said, after she had first offered them little bonuses to gain their trust.
