Vehicular movements along the Imphal-Phungyar Highway at Shangshak Khullen in Ukhrul district, Manipur was reportedly blocked for a long hours yesterday by Assam Rifles.
The Paramilitary force began counter -blockade movement at around 11:00 AM and continued for hours. In a viral video, Assam Rifles personnel, wearing masks were seen halting vehicular movements.
When confronted by passengers, the AR personnel objected to being filmed and were seen adjusting their masks, presumably to conceal their identities. One of the AR personnel could be heard saying, “Our convoy is also stopped at other side. Please don’t take videos.” Not much explanation was articulated during the confrontation.
Another report indicated that an AR convoy, travelling towards the Indo-myanmar border, was stopped at Phungyar Headquarters and forced to turn back by the Naga Community. In addition, a convoy of AR personnel from Sorde,Kamjong district, was also reported stopped at Maileng village earlier yesterday. The counter blockade was reportedly lifted in the late afternoon.
It is also worth mentioning that an AR convoy, heading to Indo-Myanmar border, was also stopped at Wanglee area on Monday by locals.
