Over the past few days, women activist organizations have spearheaded protest marches in the conflict-ridden State, and Manipur Police has issued a warning that legal action will be taken against both those responsible for violence and those who instigate it. Meira rallies have been happening every night in different parts of Imphal for the past few days. Numerous anti-social individuals have participated in violent acts during a number of these events while posing as demonstrators. These include throwing stones at security personnel, using gasoline bombs, and using catapults equipped with iron projectiles, according to a statement released by the state police on Monday.
Additionally, it has been noted that a large number of demonstrators are impaired by alcohol or other drugs. Additionally, it has been discovered that certain instigators are providing iron projectiles, catapults, and petrol/kerosene bombs before to these demonstrations, the statement stated. In order to avoid any collateral damage, security forces have dispersed the groups with the utmost caution despite these provocations. The involved agencies are aggressively performing their legal tasks in light of the recent developments, according to the police force. “All law-abiding citizens are hereby urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in preserving peace and harmony and to abstain from acts of violence, destruction of public property, and other illegal activities.” It cautioned that “legal action will be initiated against both instigators and those involved in violence.”
