The office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) , Imphal West observed World Malaria Day on April 25,at its office complex at Lamphel, Imphal.
State health officials and staff participated the programme with great enthusiasm. The event was organised under the theme, ” Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can, Now We Must.”
The programme was graced by K.Jadumani, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West, as the Chief Guest and noted the importance of collective efforts, community awareness, and sustained actions to eliminate malaria.
Strengthened surveillance, early diagnosis, timely treatment etc., can eliminate malaria, he said. Chief Medical Officer (CMO),Imphal West, Dr. Ng. Dayabati Devi presided over the programme. In her speech as the President, she emphasized the ongoing initiatives in Imphal West, for prevention of malaria, including vector control measures, distribution of insecticide – treated bed nets, and awareness drives at the grassroots level.
The event included Awareness Sessions, dissemination of IEC materials, reaffirmation of commitment by health workers and stakeholders towards the goal of a malaria-free state.
The observation function concluded with a collective pledge to intensify efforts and ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against malaria.
