Working Committee of the United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed deep concern and outrage at the ambush of civilians of Naga community, recently, between Joujangtek and Longsai village, allegedly carried out by suspected Kuki militants.
The attack was a calculated and coordinated assault on the Naga people by warmongering marauders with unfounded claims and political ambitions, the UNC alleged.
One Wilson Thanga (55), son of late D.Waikan of Dolang Chiru Village was killed during the militants’ attack and left two Naga villagers namely, Olive Jatung (34), and Aroma Thanga (33) critically injured.
The UNC stated that on the evening of the fateful incident, the three Naga victims were returning from funeral rites at Dolang Chiru Village and were on their way to Leimatak fields around 5:30 pm on May 13, when their vehicles came under heavy and sudden gunfire from the Joujangtek side.
The Naga people view such barbaric attacks very seriously and shall never remain mute spectators to such continued aggressions, the UNC added.
