Landslides Disrupt Vehicular Movement On Imphal-Jiribam Road

Vehicular movement along Imphal-Jiribam Road (NH-37) has been completely cut off due to landslides and landslip in three locations, triggered by torrential rainfall.

According to police, a major landslide occured at Shantikhunou near the CRPF camp between Sibilong and Kaimai village under Kaimai Police Station in Tamenglong district.

Another landslide occured at Oinamlong Zero point and at Nungdolan.

According to reports, it may take another two to three days to reconstruct a diversion road for the vehicular movement.

Meanwhile, the security convoy for the loaded trucks from Jiribam side has been cancelled on Wednesday owing to the calamity.

On the other hand, all the empty trucks coming from Imphal side and heading towards Jiribam side were stranded in many locations amid disruption of traffic movement.

It may be mentioned that the Imphal -Jiribam Road (NH-37) is a lifeline of Manipur, connecting Assam and other states. Essential commodities are transported through this route on a regular basis.
