Manipur CM to visit Jiribam again, focus on peace talks with Meitei and Kuki leaders

Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh will visit Jiribam district again as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and rebuild trust among communities in the state, sources said on Friday.

The visit is scheduled from April 4 to April 6 and will be the Chief Minister’s second trip to the district since assuming office. During the tour, he is expected to meet leaders from both Meitei and Kuki communities in an attempt to strengthen dialogue and promote reconciliation.

According to sources, the Chief Minister is likely to reach Jiribam around 12:55 pm on April 4. He will make brief stops at Leingangpokpi Police Outpost, Jiribam District Hospital, and Lamlenkhul, where he will review ground conditions and interact with officials as well as local residents.

The visit comes shortly after his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on April 1. During that meeting, the law and order situation in Manipur and steps to speed up the peace process were discussed.

After returning to Imphal, the Chief Minister also met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan. Sources said the discussion likely included updates on the security situation and follow-up actions after the meeting in Delhi.

A delegation of seven MLAs will accompany the Chief Minister during the visit. The team includes Tongbram Robindro, Kongkham Robindro, L. Rameshwor Meetei, Dr S. Ranjan, H. Dingo, S. Premchandra, and Paonam Brojen.

Earlier, on April 2, the Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat to review security arrangements, especially along National Highways. He had stressed that ensuring safety and uninterrupted movement of people and goods remains a top priority for the government.

In a message shared on social media, he reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring normalcy. He said the administration will continue to take coordinated and firm steps to maintain peace, stability, and public confidence.
