Manipur Police has claimed to have foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle petrol to Myanmar.
Police said they have seized two vehicles and
detained two drivers near Pioneer School along Pallel-Chandel road after it was found that they were allegedly transporting an illegal consignment of fuel to the neighbouring country.
“One Yodha vehicle bearing registration No. MN09B- 0472 driven by Pasel Nepolian Anal (43) of Chandel District was seized for transporting 11 plastic containers containing approximately 2,420 litres of petrol,” police said.
One Eeco Van bearing registration No. MN06LX593, driven by Lh. Koko George (29) of Chandel District was also seized for transporting six plastic containers containing approximately 1260 litres of petrol, they added.
The two drivers revealed that they were transporting a total of 3680 litres of petrol in 17 containers along Imphal-Moreh road for delivering it to Myanmar. The two vehicles along with the drivers and the fuel are handed over to Kakching PS for further necessary action.
