Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam held a high-level security review meeting with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh and other senior security officials to assess the prevailing law and order situation in the state and strengthen coordination among security agencies.The meeting, held on July 9, came days after two Assam Rifles personnel were killed in an attack by suspected militants in Ukhrul district, underscoring the continuing security challenges in the state.According to the Home Minister, the meeting was attended by CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Special Director General (Operations) Vitul Kumar, Special Director General (Northeast Zone) Raja Shrivastava, Inspector General of Police (Manipur and Nagaland Sector) R.N. Das and Deputy Inspector General S.K. Singh.
Sharing details of the meeting, Konthoujam said the discussions focused on reviewing the overall security situation in Manipur and enhancing coordination among various security forces operating in the state.Describing the interaction as a “productive discussion,” the minister said, “We reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening coordination, enhancing operational preparedness, and ensuring lasting peace and security in the state.”He also appreciated the role played by the Central Reserve Police Force in maintaining security and assisting in peacekeeping efforts across Manipur. Lauding the force for its service, Konthoujam said the CRPF has made significant contributions to safeguarding the nation and protecting the people of the state. “Together, we remain committed to a secure, stable, and peaceful Manipur,” he added.
The security review assumes significance in the wake of the recent militant attack in Ukhrul district in which two Assam Rifles personnel lost their lives. Officials said the meeting reviewed the prevailing security scenario and discussed measures to improve operational preparedness and coordination among the security agencies deployed across the state.
