Manipur Security Forces Honored with Governor’s Unit Citation 2026

Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday attended the Investiture Ceremony for the Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 held at the Manipur State Film Development Society in Imphal, where outstanding units of the armed and police forces were honoured for their exemplary service in the State. During the ceremony, the Governor presented Governor’s Citations to units of the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, BRTF, and Manipur District Police in recognition of their contributions towards maintaining peace and stability in the State.

Among those present at the event were Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, and Ministers Konthoujam Govindas Singh and Khuraijam Loken Singh. The recipients of the Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 included 19 Garhwal Rifles, 17 Assam Rifles, 38 Assam Rifles, 40 Assam Rifles, 2 Mahar Regiment, 25 BRTF, Kakching District Police, Senapati District Police, Churachandpur District Police, 10 BSF, and 143 CRPF. Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla described the occasion as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and recognition rather than merely a ceremonial event. He praised the dedication, courage, and exemplary service of the armed forces and security personnel who have continued to work under difficult circumstances to uphold peace and stability in Manipur.

Referring to the challenges faced by the State in recent years, the Governor said the security forces acted as pillars of strength while maintaining law and order and restoring a sense of security among the people. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the families of security personnel, stating that their support remains integral to the service of the forces. Emphasising the significance of the Governor’s Unit Citation, he said the award recognises collective excellence, discipline, teamwork, and commitment to duty.

The Governor further stressed that the true strength of security forces lies in the restrained and judicious use of force, adding that their conduct has helped strengthen public confidence and restore normalcy in the State. He also highlighted the importance of continued coordination between security agencies and the civil administration. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh commended both Central and State security forces for their humanitarian efforts and their role in saving lives across communities. He acknowledged the crucial contribution of the forces in maintaining law and order and restoring peace in Manipur.

The Chief Minister also appealed for public support and cooperation to strengthen harmony and bonding among different communities in the State. The ceremony was attended by Members of Parliament, MLAs, and senior civil, military, and police officials, and concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment of all stakeholders towards maintaining peace and supporting the continued development of Manipur.
