Leaders and legislators of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Manipur have unanimously endorsed BJP State President A. Sharda Devi as the alliance’s candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election from the state.
The decision was taken following consultations with NDA legislators held both in person and through virtual meetings.
Announcing the development, NDA leaders said the unanimous support extended to Sharda Devi’s candidature reflects the alliance’s commitment to unity, democratic values and inclusive political representation.
The alliance also highlighted the significance of promoting women’s participation in public life, describing Sharda Devi’s nomination as a step towards strengthening women’s representation in key decision-making institutions.
Sharda Devi, who currently serves as the president of the Manipur unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is expected to contest for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from the state with the backing of all NDA partners.
