An alleged cadre of the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) has been arrested by Security Forces from Zoveng area in Churachandpur district, officials said yesterday.
A statement issued by the Assam Rifles stated that the operation was carried out by the 5 Assam Rifles on May 7 in the general area of Zoveng.
The arrested person has been identified as Lal Thang John, a resident of Zoveng. He is said to have travelled to Myanmar earlier to join the KNA-B outfit. The statement further said that the individual had reportedly infiltrated back into Churachandpur from Myanmar and was suspected to be planning a movement towards the Ukhrul -Litan axis to create unrest in Manipur.
Security personnel recovered one 9 mm pistol from his possession, the statement added. Further investigation is underway into the incident.
