MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have been equaled in terms of success by Rajat Patidar. He has now emerged as only the third captain to win the IPL trophy twice consecutively. Immediately after winning the title yesterday, the RCB captain revealed his next target. In the press conference, Patidar said— “It feels wonderful. Today is my birthday. There could be no better gift than this today. I want today to be a day of absolute joy. Very soon, I want to return to the field. I want to win three times in a row in the IPL, meaning I want a hat-trick of titles.”
Aiming for a hat-trick of titles, Patidar has set a target of equaling Dhoni and Rohit’s record of four titles. According to him, winning the title twice consecutively is not easy at all. It is certainly not a single individual’s achievement. However, he does not want to take individual credit for it. He made it clear that this was a result of a collective team effort. Speaking about the dressing room atmosphere, Patidar said— “The dressing room atmosphere has changed completely now. Everyone’s mindset in the team has evolved. Everyone plays for one another. Everyone plays together. That is why this success has been achieved.” Along with the team’s coach and support staff, everyone equally deserves credit for this.
He added, “That is why there are no bounds to my joy today. However, I want to remain grounded right now.”
