In a large-scale operation against illegal arms and ammunition, security forces have recovered 114 weapons, explosives, IEDs, and grenades across multiple districts in Manipur. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, conducted a series of coordinated raids in collaboration with the Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP to curb violence in the region.
The joint operations targeted both hill and valley districts, leading to significant recoveries. Security forces also neutralized multiple bunkers in Kangpokpi district, reinforcing the government’s commitment to restoring peace in the state.
🔹 Bishnupur (Nepali Basti): A raid by the Indian Army and Manipur Police led to the seizure of seven weapons, including carbines, pistols, rifles, and an improvised mortar, along with ammunition.
🔹 Chandel: Security forces uncovered 55 weapons, including 12-bore single-barrel rifles, muzzle-loaded rifles, a shotgun, and 32 improvised mortars of various calibers. They also recovered four IEDs, grenades, and additional ammunition.
🔹 Senapati (Taphou Kuki): Acting on intelligence inputs, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police seized four firearms, including bolt-action guns and a 12-bore single-barrel rifle.
🔹 Churachandpur (Gothol): 15 weapons were confiscated during a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police.
🔹 Jiribam (Ankhasu Village): Security forces recovered nine improvised mortars (Pompi) in a search operation.
🔹 Imphal East (Pourabi, Sawombung, Kalika): A collaborative effort led to the seizure of six weapons.
🔹 Kangpokpi (Khengang Village): A cordon and search operation 12 km north of Leimakhong resulted in the recovery of four weapons and the destruction of 12 militant bunkers.
🔹 Thoubal (Langmeithek Yerum Ching & Langathel): The Assam Rifles and Manipur Police seized eight weapons, ammunition, and other war-like stores.
🔹 Imphal West (Moidangpok Khullen): An extensive search led to the recovery of six weapons.
The crackdown is part of ongoing security efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms in Manipur, which has witnessed continued ethnic violence. The recent recoveries are expected to bolster law enforcement agencies’ efforts to restore peace and stability in the state.
