Silchar Spa Raids: SMCH Principal Dr Bhaskar Gupta Questioned Over Prostitution Allegations

The investigation into the police raids at two spa centres in Silchar has taken a new turn. As part of that investigation, Cachar Police questioned Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), on Friday.

Last Friday night, police had detained 28 women during raids at two spa centres located in a commercial complex in the city as part of a probe into allegations of prostitution. Since then, the investigating team has been examining the ownership of the spa centres, rental arrangements, and the roles of individuals linked to them.

According to findings in the investigation, police suspect that Dr. Bhaskar Gupta owns one of the rooms in the commercial complex where a spa centre was operating. Based on this information, Dr. Gupta and his wife were summoned to the office of the Cachar Superintendent of Police and questioned for about an hour and a half.

As of now, no case has been officially registered against Dr. Gupta or any member of his family. Police sources said the questioning was carried out solely to collect information in the interest of the investigation.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating whether any other influential individuals or organized networks are linked to the two spa centres. Various documents, rental agreements, and financial transaction records are also being scrutinized.

Cachar Police has urged the public not to arrive at any conclusions until the investigation is complete. Police clarified that further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the official investigation.
