The whereabouts of the six male detainees who have been held captive by the alleged Kuki militants, are still missing. The missing persons are said to be from Konsakhul, a Naga village.
They were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Village, together with their associates, said a reliable source. A total of 20 Naga people, including women and children, were held recently by the alleged Kuki militants, from Leilon Vaiphei Village. Out of them, 14 Naga villagers have been released safely, in the early hours yesterday. Still, no official statement has yet been issued regarding those who are still unaccounted for.
On a similar development, at least 14 Kuki villagers, comprising both women and men, who had been detained by Naga volunteers at Ireng Liangmei village near Singda Dam and in Senapati, were also released yesterday.
One of the released Naga-women recounted the ordeal, stating that they were held and blindfolded by Kuki armed cadres. Their hands were also tied behind their backs, moved through various mountainous and jungle locations during their captivity. She said ” We were blindfolded, our hands tied behind our back and taken up and down to various locations of the mountainous and jungle region.We even had our food blindfolded. However, we were never touched once or assaulted.”
Here, it may be mentioned that the Kuki hostages at Senapati, were kept in an undisclosed location.
