Maruti Suzuki India Ltd reported a robust 24.4 per cent increase in total sales, reaching 236,013 units in September compared to 189,665 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, according to a regulatory filing that encompasses domestic sales, international exports, and supplies to other original equipment manufacturers. The automaker’s stellar growth was significantly propelled by a strong surge in its domestic passenger vehicle business, which jumped nearly 37 per cent to 1,81,838 units last month from 1,32,820 units recorded a year ago. Total domestic sales, which additionally account for light commercial vehicles, stood at 1,85,252 units compared to 1,35,711 units in the prior-year period. Meanwhile, the company’s export performance maintained steady momentum, with total overseas shipments rising to 44,219 units in September from 42,204 units in September of last year. Segment-wise breakdown reveals that sales of traditional passenger car lines—covering mini, compact, and mid-sized models such as the Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, S-Presso, Swift, and WagonR—rose to 91,887 units last month from 74,090 units in September 2025. Concurrently, the utility vehicle portfolio, comprising popular offerings like the Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris, and XL6, witnessed extraordinary demand, surging to 78,911 units compared to 48,695 units in the same month a year ago. Additionally, commercial and utility van categories posted steady gains, with sales of Eeco vans rising to 11,040 units from 10,035 units, and Super Carry light commercial vehicle sales increasing to 3,414 units from 2,891 units year-on-year. This solid monthly performance underscores sustained consumer demand across both urban and rural markets, driven by strong acceptance of Maruti Suzuki’s diversified vehicle lineup, new model variants, and expanding global footprint.
