Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Department of Electronics, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, have opened registrations for the 27th edition of the TCS Rural IT Quiz, strengthening the company’s long-running effort to expand technology awareness among students beyond major urban centres.
The 2026 edition, an integral part of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2026, will feature online tests, virtual quiz rounds and in-person competitions for Classes 8 to 12 students from smaller towns and districts across India. Schools within city corporation limits are excluded. The quiz covers artificial intelligence, cloud computing, business and emerging technology trends, as well as IT applications across banking, education, entertainment, robotics, media, sports, gaming and social networking.
Eight regional finals will culminate in national finals in Bengaluru in November. Regional winners and runners-up will receive Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 gift vouchers, while national winners will receive TCS education scholarships of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000. Registrations close September 30.
Recognised by the Limca Book of Records as India’s first IT quiz for rural students, the programme has engaged more than 22.4 million students since 2000. Its previous edition attracted over 5.62 lakh participants across 28 states and two Union Territories.
