Two criminals were taken into custody by the Manipur police in two different operations that were carried out on May 2. Chongtham Ebungo Singh, 20, a resident of Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West, was arrested in the first incident from the Thoubal district’s Jama Masjid area. He was discovered in possession of a Maruti Waggon R that had been reported stolen from the Thangmeiband neighbourhood of Imphal West earlier that day. After verification, the car was found to be stolen, which resulted in Singh’s official arrest and the car’s confiscation.
The Imphal Police Station has already received a complaint about the theft. In a different case, officials from the Imphal officials Station detained a suspected illegal arms smuggler close to the Bazar India Shopping Mall in Chingmeirong. The accused, Konsam Romeo Singh (50) of Sawombung Maniyaiskul, Imphal East, was found in possession of a 9 mm pistol with a loaded magazine that held 10 rounds, a cell phone, an ID card, and Rs 330 in cash. An investigation is underway after he was taken into custody.
