A national seminar titled “Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma: Architect of Social Change And Proponent of Holistic Nationalism” was organized by the Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Trust in collaboration with KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The seminar was held in the conference hall of KIIT Deemed to be University and was chaired by Dr. Ajit Boro, President of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Trust, Bal Sahitya Award winner and Principal of Gosaigaon B.Ed College.
The program began with floral tributes to the portrait of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, followed by Bodo and Tripuri dance performances by KIIT students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ajit Boro highlighted Gurudev’s holistic philosophy and said that Gurudev dedicated his life not only for the development of the Bodo community, but also for the progress of the entire nation. Mentioning that there is immense scope for research on Gurudev’s philosophy, he urged students and researchers to undertake in-depth study on the subject.
Prof. Ramesh C. Bhardwaj, former Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Balmiki Sanskrit University, Haryana, and Prof. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Ambedkar Chair Professor, participated as resource persons in the seminar.
In his address, Prof. Ramesh C. Bhardwaj said that Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma’s philosophy had deeply inspired Bodofa Upendranath Brahma. Stating that Gurudev laid the foundation for the all-round development of the Bodo community, he added that in terms of vision for social change, moral leadership and holistic nationalism, Gurudev was a national figure on par with Mahatma Gandhi.
Also present at the event were Dr. Prasant Kumar Routray, Registrar of KIIT Deemed to be University, Deputy Registrar Dr. Snigdha Rani Panda, Director of Research and Development Cell Dr. Arpana Premi Leena Oraon, Assistant Professor of Anthropology Dr. Avindita Nayote, Assistant Professor Anirban Bandyopadhyay and Dr. Sujata Acharya.
More than 50 researchers, Deans, Professors, students from the North East, Bodo students of KIIT, and 14 representatives from Bodoland and Assam took part in the seminar.
The representatives from Bodoland and Assam were: Fatendra Basumatary, Jagat Chandra Brahma, Dr. Ajit Boro, Ranjan Narzary, Khodam Basumatary, Harendra Brahma, Ghanakanta Brahma, Mukti Ranjan Boro, Girindra Chandra Brahma, Ajay Kumar Brahma, Kalendra Nath Basumatary, Baba Budhadev Narzary, Rabindra Mushahary and Suraj Kumar Brahma.
