At least two properties were damaged in a new bombing on Friday morning in the Bishnupur district of Manipur by suspected militants, according to authorities. Rockets were shot toward the low-lying residential neighborhood of Tronglaobi, which is around 45 kilometers from the state capital of Imphal, from high points in the surrounding hill regions of Churachandpur district. According to police, the rockets’ estimated range was more than three kilometers.
Thankfully, no injuries from the incident were reported. But the bombing also caused damage to an abandoned room and a community hall nearby, according to the police. Security forces retaliated after the alleged militants fired multiple rounds in the direction of the Bishnupur district. There was increased tension in Kumbi village, which is a few kilometers away from Tronglaobi, on Thursday night, according to eyewitnesses, after several drones were seen hovering less than 100 meters over the ground.
