Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh addressed 16 youths from the state who are heading to Japan for overseas skill training under the State Livelihood Empowerment and Entrepreneurship (SLEE) initiative, urging them never to forget their roots. Interacting with the candidates, the Chief Minister emphasized that while they will be exposed to a foreign land, culture, and traditions, they should always maintain pride in their identity as Manipuris. Addressing a changing mindset where some hesitate to proudly identify as Manipuris, he called for a cultural shift to embrace their heritage on the global stage. The candidates completed Japanese language training through the National Skill Development Corporation International Academy and secured healthcare and hospitality roles across Japan, including Tokyo and Okinawa. To facilitate their transition, an agreement was signed between the State Bank of India and SLEE to provide financial support to the selected candidates. Candidates like Dhanapriya Tensubam, who secured a placement at the Miyakojima Tokyu Hotel and Resort in Okinawa, expressed gratitude to the government for the opportunity and pledged to maintain their professionalism while remaining proud of their Manipuri heritage.
