Manipur Govt Warns of Action Against Employees Absent During Shutdown

In protest of the Tronglaobi incident, the Manipur government has ordered all employees to report to work during the shutdown call that started today. The Chief Secretary’s office has issued an official order directing all Heads of Departments and Administrative Secretaries to make sure that everyone in their respective offices, including subordinate offices, be present during the shutdown protests. “In light of the calls for disruption/bandh issued by various groups, it is now required that all Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments ensure attendance in their respective offices and subordinate offices. The relevant administrative departments should receive attendance reports. Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel signed the directive, which said that departmental actions should be taken against anyone who misses work without permission. “All Deputy Commissioners shall ensure functioning of all offices in districts and ensure attendance in all offices. The order also said that employees who are absent will be subject to departmental actions.
