According to officials on Tuesday, March 18, security personnel in the Chandel district of Manipur confiscated brown sugar valued at Rs 3.29 crore and detained a 23-year-old male in connection with the crime. On March 16, a group of Assam Rifles carried out an operation in Kuljang village in response to intelligence information, which resulted in the confiscation of 137 soap cases containing brown sugar. According to an official statement from Assam Rifles, two cell phones were also found in the accused’s possession. The Tengnoupal district resident who was arrested has been turned over to the police for additional investigation. Investigators are looking into possible connections to bigger drug networks that are active in the area.
