Renault India has officially begun exporting its new Duster SUV, marking a key milestone in its global manufacturing strategy. The first shipment of 750 vehicles was dispatched from Chennai to South Africa on Monday, signaling the start of a broader international rollout planned over the coming months.
The company described the development as an important step in strengthening India’s role within Renault’s global production network. The new Duster export programme is expected to expand to additional international markets, further boosting India’s position as a manufacturing and export hub for the automaker.
Renault Group India Chief Executive Officer Stéphane Deblaise said the export launch reflects the strength and competitiveness of the company’s Chennai operations. He added that it demonstrates the progress made in integrating India into Renault’s global industrial footprint.
Deblaise also highlighted India’s growing strategic importance for the company’s future plans, noting that Renault remains committed to supporting the country’s manufacturing ambitions. The company is working toward an ambitious target of generating €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030.
According to Renault, India offers strong fundamentals to become a leading automotive export hub, including advanced manufacturing capabilities, skilled engineering talent, large-scale production capacity, and a rapidly improving logistics ecosystem. The launch of Duster exports is seen as a key step in leveraging these strengths for global markets.
