The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Manipur government has identified polo for its promotion as an Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of the state.
The decision was made at a virtual conference convened by the convened by the Ministry of DoNER on Tuesday, which saw the participation of DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh among others.
“As the birthplace of polo, Manipur holds immense potential to emerge as a global hub for the sport. Had a productive discussion with Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on developing a comprehensive roadmap to position Polo as Manipur’s USP,” Scindia said.
“Attended the Virtual Conference convened by the Ministry of DoNER at the Secretariat, along with Minister Kh. Loken Singh and senior officials of the Tourism Department. Discussions focused on Polo’s Unique Selling Proposition (USP) and its distinct heritage ” the Chief Minister posted on social media.
“Originating in Manipur, Polo is an ancient indigenous sport that reflects our rich traditions, civilization, and cultural legacy. We remain committed to preserving and promoting our indigenous games and heritage,” the Manipur Chief Minister stated.
He also appreciated the efforts of technical officials, the Director of Tourism, and all concerned officers for the seamless organisation of the programme, stating that their professionalism reflects the government’s commitment to efficient and responsive administration.
