The Indian Army has deployed more than 2,000 personnel, along with tracker dogs and drones, to locate a missing Meitei man, Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, who disappeared over a week ago. The 56-year-old works supervisor, originally from Assam’s Cachar district, resided in Khukrul, Imphal West, and was employed by the Military Engineering Services (MES) at Leimakhong Military Station, under the 57th Mountain Division.
The massive joint search operation, launched on November 25, is being coordinated by the Manipur Police with active support from the Indian Army. “Over 2,000 troops, helicopters, drones, and tracker dogs are being used to trace Kamalbabu,” said a police statement. Technical intelligence has also been integrated into the investigation.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh described the situation as “very sad” during a December 2 press conference and assured the public of relentless efforts to locate the missing man. “Both Army and police teams are conducting extensive ground and aerial searches, but no leads have emerged yet,” he stated.
