Protest Stages Over Civilians killing At Tronglaobi And Litan

Voicing strong condemnation over recent civilians killing and demanding immediate measures to restore peace in the state, residents of Nongpok Kakching, along with representatives from different civil society organisations, staged Sit-in Protest at Nongpok Kakching on April 30.
The demonstration was organised by The Bright Star Union, in collaboration with the residents of Nongren, Nongpok Kakching, Nongdam, Heirok, Okshu Ningthemcha villages. The participants expressed deep anguish and concern over the killing of civilians, including children at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district and TM Kasom village,near Litan in Ukhrul district.
The Protestors called for a concrete and time-bound solution to bring back peace and normalcy in the state. They also raised concerns over the continuing pattern of violence. They were holding placards and shouted slogans reflecting demands for justice, accountability and lasting solutions.
Various leaders from different civil society organisations attended the demonstration and addressed the gathering. Among them were Ema Soraisam Memcha, President of Poirei Leimarol; vice-president, Ema Kumudini; general secretary,Th. Apabi; Phunindro Konsam, chairman of COHR; and Y.Kunjarani, president of AMAWOVA.
