UNC Urges Amit Shah For Immediate Release Of 6 Naga Hostages

The United Naga Council (UNC) has urged the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for immediate intervention over the captivity of 6 Naga civilians allegedly by a Kuki armed group namely Kuki National Front -P (KNF-P).
The Naga body also sought the intervention of the Home Minister to de-escalate the rapidly worsening situation in the state.
In its letter addressed to the Union Home Minister, the UNC stated that the six Naga civilians were abducted by the Kuki armed militants, while reporting that it is a fact, corroborated by eyewitness accounts. The remaining 6 Naga hostages including two Pastors,are still in the custody of the armed KNF-P militants.
The abduction of 18 innocent Naga civilians, including men, women,and married couples, were taken hostage in broad daylight occurred at Leilon Vaiphei Village on May 13,2026, at around 10.30 AM. Out of them, 12 women hostages including a baby child, were subsequently released on May 15 last, the Naga body reported.It further stated that as per the information from reliable sources, the six Naga hostages may have been done away with in the custody of the KNF-P.
“The Naga people, therefore, urge your good office to intervene for the handing over of the Naga hostages, dead or alive, without further delay,” it stated, while urging the Home Minister to take urgent cognisance of the matter and ensure the immediate resolution of the hostage crisis.
