“I appeal to the honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal to send a fact-finding team to enquire into the cause of the fire in which as many as eight persons, including five from Meghalaya, were killed,” Hek said.
He added that he would urge the West Bengal government to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident and establish how the fire broke out.
The Meghalaya victims were identified as Rajendra Nath, Asha Nath, Buran Madak, 10-year-old Shivraj Madak and eight-year-old Aushnath Madak. They were rescued from the site but were subsequently declared dead.
