One civilian, reportedly a widow from the Meitei community has been kidnapped by the militants. Another youth from the Tangkhul community has also been found missing since the incident.
At least four villagers sustained injuries during the attack. However, no fatalities have been reported so far. Residents of the affected border villages have fled to safer areas. The ongoing political turmoil in neighbouring Myanmar has led to a steady influx of illegal immigrants from the Kuki community into Kamjong district since November, 2023. There is no State Police deployment along the whole stretch of the Indo-Myanmar border, neighbouring Manipur.
