Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has established its 67th Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at the Government Industrial Training Institute in Aizwal, Mizoram. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Government of Mizoram and Zote Toyota, includes a new scholarship program called STAR (Scholarship Program for Technical Education and Recognition) to support economically disadvantaged students.
The program will provide technical training in automotive skills to final-year ITI and Diploma students, with TKM investing over Rs 1.5 million in infrastructure and training resources. Successful students can receive scholarships up to Rs 51,000 per year.
The initiative will expand to 10 other states and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, furthering TKM’s support of India’s ‘Skill India’ and ‘Make in India’ missions. Since T-TEP’s inception in 2006, over 13,000 students have been trained, with more than 70% finding employment in the automotive sector.
