During stabilization efforts, security forces recover the arms cache

In the hill and valley districts of Manipur, security personnel carried out large-scale search operations and area dominance exercises in marginalized and vulnerable communities to foster peace and stability. The New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi District recovered a sizable collection of weapons and equipment during an operation near Nepali Basti and along the Vietum Khullen-Khoken village road. Among the weapons and explosives found are a modified.303 sniper rifle, a single-barrel rifle, a.22 pistol with a magazine, a 5.56 mm Heckler & Koch G3 rifle with a magazine, and other weaponry.

The security forces also confiscated a Motorola (Baofeng) phone, two Chinese hand grenades, five.303 live rounds, and two makeshift mortars. The operation demonstrates the security forces’ vigilance and proactive measures to address security concerns in high-risk regions. It is a component of a larger strategy to lessen violence and stabilize the area. There have also been similar operations in other areas, including as Churachandpur, where the Indian Army and local police worked together to seize 12 weapons and explosives.

In the interim, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has issued strong threats against organizations engaged in character assassination, extortion, threats against the community, and invasions of privacy. He had called out the misuse of social media by persons and organizations sharing films that violated people’s privacy and urged them to stop these actions right once.
