Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Thursday visited the Makhan Village Relief Camp and interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying there. Makhan village, located in the Kangpokpi district, lies in a vulnerable buffer zone affected by the ongoing ethnic conflict. The area has seen volatile security situations and has served as a focal point for the crisis. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister L. Dikho, while MLAs Awangbou Newmai, Leishiyo Keishing, Janghemlung Panmei, Ram Muivah, J. Kumo Sha, Khashim Vashum and H. Dingo were also present. Taking to social media, the chief minister stated that he had an interaction with the inmates of the camp during which he listened to their concerns and reviewed the relief measures in place. Singh further reiterated the State Government’s commitment to the safe resettlement and rehabilitation of all IDPs at the earliest. Notably, the Chief Minister has been conducting regular visits to the relief camps across the state with a focus on reviewing resettlement efforts, assessing security, and providing financial assistance to the IDPs.
